About us

This site is run by ACCORD, the Austrian Centre for Country of Origin & Asylum Research and Documentation, a department of the Austrian Red Cross.

ACCORD was established in 1999. We offer COI research for all parties involved in procedures of international protection in Austria, to UNHCR and to a limited extent to other organisations. ACCORD maintains, an online information system on countries of origin.

Together with partner organisations from various countries, the basic content and formats of COI training were developed, resulting in the formulation of COI quality standards and the publication of the first edition of a COI training manual in 2004. Since then, ACCORD has gained experience in COI training - more than 3,000 persons from about 80 countries have participated in COI courses and lectures.

If you are interested in participating in a course on methodology and quality standards of COI research or if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us:
